AMBITMentalization based therapies are currently being developed with respect to a range of needs of both adults and young people. AMBIT (Adolescent Mentalization based Integrative Therapy) is a mentalization based approach to working with very ‘hard to reach’ young people, that is currently deployed in a number of settings around the UK.  This one day workshop will explain the basic concept and development of mentalization, and will provide a very brief introduction to some key mentalization-based treatments used in direct work with children and families.  AMBIT is an approach that supports the integrated delivery of multiple modalities, and it has been applied to a number of key components of team working in addition to direct work with clients.

The workshop will be relevant for all statutory and voluntary sector teams/services working with very troubled young people.  Previous knowledge of mentalization theory is not essential for this workshop.  The primary focus will be on providing an introduction to practical applications of mentalization to existing work settings.
