AFNCCF receives Commendation from London homelessness Awards

Last month the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families was shortlisted for the London Homelessness Awards in recognition of the impact our early years service has had in supporting families and young people living in temporary accommodation.

After a lengthy application, we were delighted to get through to the final round and have the opportunity to present our Early Years Mental Health Support for Homeless Families service to a large panel of influential individuals from within the sector. The team of four, comprising of Jessica James, Jenny Ricketts and two service users living in temporary accommodation, faced some tough questions and even tougher competition.

Whist we were not successful in making it on to the podium as the final three, the London Homelessness Awards judges were so impressed with our application that they have offered us a Commendation which means we will receive PR support from the London Homelessness Awards and the London Housing Foundation to enhance our work within this service. We will be presented with this Commendation at the London Homeless Awards Ceremony at City Hall in October.

We would like to send a very special thanks not only to London Homelessness Awards for awarding us this Commendation but also to our staff and service users for supporting our application and whose continuous hard work over more than 10 years has made a real difference to the lives of people affected by homelessness.
