Invitation to coffee morning for free 'Being a Parent' course

undefined

Are you a parent/ carer in Camden? The Anna Freud Centre is offering a free eight week parenting course to parents/carers in Camden who are living in temporary accommodation.

The 'Being a Parent' Course

The ‘Being a Parent’ course is run by parents for parents.

The course covers general issues like

  • understanding feelings and children’s behaviour,
  • play and listening,
  • labels, praise and discipline.

It’s really useful, completely free and currently it is being offered to parents living in temporary or insecure accommodation in Camden, with the knowledge that this can be a particularly challenging situation to raise children in.

The course is 16 hours, 2 hours a week over 8 weeks. It is suitable for parents who:

  • Have experience of temporary accommodation or insecure housing
  • Camden resident
  • Have a child between ages 2-11
  • Expect to be able to attend all the sessions
  • Are not currently in care proceedings

There will be the opportunity for parents who complete the first training programme to gain accreditation (OCN) and also apply to progress and become a paid facilitator themselves.
