About the Alumni Association

AlumniOrganisation of the Alumni Association

  • If you are a Child Psychotherapy graduate, you will now be able to enter an exclusive part of the website which will provide more relevant resources and information.
  • For those who took either of the MSc programmes here, you will also be able to enter an exclusive part of the website dedicated to your experience.
  • For those did both the clinical and academic programmes, you will have access to both parts of the site.

Keeping in touch

We are currently in touch with 100s of our graduates and hope that this alumni group will allow us to share resources and news across the world from our 100s of alumni.   We ask you to pass on information about the website to alumni who we have maybe lost contact with and who you have managed to stay in touch with.

Benefits and Services

We hope that you are able to make the most of the benefits and services from the Alumni group.

  • Keeping in touch and networking
  • Staying up to date about upcoming and recent events
  • Joining interest and regional groups
  • Participating in online discussion groups and forums
  • Sharing news and photos
  • Receiving podcasts and articles relevant to your interests.

AlumniWhat can the Alumni Association do for you?

Where are they now?

 -                     With alumni’s information entered, the website would serve to pool together all information on graduates in terms of their qualifications, current work, achievements, publications and special interests;

-                     In addition, the website would be able to provide information about what alumni have been doing

 Groupings

-                     regional groupings will allow us to have representatives in different regions in the UK and across the world;

-                     discipline/interest groupings will allow us to have representatives in different areas (e.g child psychotherapy, mentalisation, parent-infant therapy);

Promotion of your own events

-                     You will be able to promote events / conferences etc. through the alumni association in your own regions and countries which can be accessed by the group and others affiliated with the Anna Freud Centre;

Sharing of resources

-                     an opportunity for the Anna Freud Centre to publicise new journal articles, books, papers, and presentations;

-                     an opportunity to give back to the alumni some podcasts of lectures or presentations (to be discussed);

-                     an opportunity for alumni to promote any of their own (including book reviews);

Sharing of Professional Experiences (though online supervision and work discussion groups)

Discussion / Forum

-                     discussion threads will help encourage debate and discourse within different areas (clinical practice, research, evaluation) or different stages in development (infancy, childhood, adolescence)

Placement Opportunities for Graduates

-                     MSc graduates may be able to ‘shadow’ child psychotherapists or senior research psychologists;

-                     More formal placements could be set up for those considering a clinical or academic career;

 Offering MSc projects

-                     though this has happened informally, more projects could allow current MSc students to contribute through literature searching, data collection or coding, in return for data;

AlumniFuture Developments

We plan to host events in the UK and internationally.   If sufficient interest, a colloquium or symposium will be planned.  Outside the academic arena, social ones will also be planned.

Conferences / Symposium

-                     a clinical/academic conference where alumni came and presented papers or gave talks about aspects of their work (video conferencing would be encouraged for this given where many students are)

-                     alumni could be encouraged to give a visiting lecture or fill a slot at the Wednesday meeting at the Anna Freud Centre;

-                     linking in with the colloquium, there could be a MSc graduate event at the same time;

-                     alumni will be informed of the conference / lecture schedule for Peter, Mary, Linda and other senior staff members;

 Social networking

A social aspect of such a group should not be underestimated and an annual gathering of alumni could be arranged;

If you want to make any of your events open to alumni this would be a wonderful thing too!

Please do come back to us with suggestions.
