The Early Years Parenting Unit
The Early Years Parenting Unit (EYPU) is a new programme at the Anna Freud Centre, made possible through a two-year grant from the Department for Education. We are working with Islington Children Services to reach parents with personality difficulties with children under five subject to a Child in Need or Child Protection plan, or on the edge of care. The EYPU uses Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT) in individual and group therapy, parenting work and multifamily therapy. A battery of measures will be used at baseline, mid-point and end of therapy.
The EYPU runs Monday – Wednesday from 3 October, with families attending on Mondays and Wednesdays, and the team attending supervision, network meetings and visiting families at home on Tuesdays.
The EYPU is based at the Anna Freud Centre’s new premises at 38 Mayton St, N7 6QR in Islington.
