MSc /Diploma /Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Children and Young People
This
This course is aimed at professionals working in child services who work with children who have a range of emotional or behavioural problems. The course is not confined to staff who work in either CAMHS or other psychological services but is applicable to a wide range of professions including nurses, social workers, teachers as well as psychologists, doctors and therapists. The course is highly focused on developing core competencies in CBT with children and young people and has proved very beneficial for both highly experienced practitioners and also those who are relatively new to working with children. The course curriculum is entirely around children and addresses the importance of a child's context (family, school, peers) in the delivery of CBT for specific problems.
Career prospects
CBT for children and young people is one of a number of evidence based interventions for common childhood problems and disorders. The demand for professionals with skills in this area in known to be high and is likely to grow. Students will have a (Certificate/Diploma/Masters) qualification in CBT with children and this will be much valued by employers looking to develop this type of intervention within their service. Several of our students have been funded by employers who want to increase their supervisory capacity in CBT and this is likely to be a trend that will continue.

“I enjoyed learning about each disorder in a detailed way. It was a very practical and useful way to learn how to deal with future clients.
