As you read this, around 1 in every 10 children has a diagnosable mental health problem.
This year, in England alone, the cost of mental health problems is estimated to reach £109billion.
If we don't act now depression will become the most frequent cause of death and disability in industrialised nations by 2020.
By treating our children now, and tackling these problems at their root the Anna Freud Centre is making a tremendous difference to the rest of their lives and the future shape of our society.
Why we need your support
We need to raise over £2 million a year in grants and donations just to maintain our existing projects. It can cost as much as £10,000 to work with a vulnerable young person and their family for one year. The alternatives are far more expensive to society, as it costs £200,000 per year to place a child in residential care.
Without the support of our generous donors, we simply could not continue our work to help children and families.
