Brenda Davis

Brenda Davis

Overview

Brenda currently works as Consultant Psychology Lead for Brighton & Hove CAMHS, in Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and also has a number of Sussex CAMHS - wide roles including leading on CBT and MBCT, and development and implementation of the Autistic Spectrum Disorder care pathway, as well as the pathway for young people with psychological problems associated with long term physical health conditions. Brenda is a member of the Board of the BABCP and a committee member of the Child & Family SIG of the BABCP. As such, she represents the BABCP on the national CYP Expert Reference Group. Brenda trained as an MBCT teacher in 2011 and has, in association with colleagues from CAMHS and their MBCT supervisor, adapted the standard adult MBCT course to be accessible to young people, which they have been delivering and developing for the past four years to adolescent clinical populations. As the evidence base for use of Mindfulness Based Approaches (MBIs) with adolescent clinical populations is still an emerging one, Brenda and colleagues have been evaluating their groups using standardised quantitative as well as qualitative measures, with very encouraging results, which have been presented at a number of fora. A national SIG for MBIs with adolescent clinical populations was initiated by Brenda under the auspices of Sussex Mindfulness Centre, which met for the first time in October 2014, to share ideas and developments.
