Inge Pretorius’ presentation at the Sigmund Freud Museum in Vienna

The Sigmund Freud Museum in Vienna is currently holding a special exhibition entitled “So this is the strong Sex. Women in Psychoanalysis

There is a Special Exhibition at the Sigmund Freud Museum in Vienna at present, entitled “So this is the strong Sex. Women in Psychoanalysis”.  It is a well-researched, beautifully presented exhibition that includes 6 women from the early history of psychoanalysis who had a major influence on the work of Sigmund Freud and on the development of psychoanalysis:  Marie Bonaparte, Helene Deutsch, Emma Eckstein, Anna Freud, Lou Andreas-Salomé and Sabina Spielrein.

undefinedThe exhibition also includes two wooden toys on loan from the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families: a cylinder block toy from the Jackson Nursery (1937-1938) (photographed below), and a wooden puzzle from the Hampstead War Nurseries (1941-1945). As part of the exhibition, Inge Pretorius gave a lecture entitled “Anna Freud: Radical Freud: radical innovator and staunch conservative” on Monday 30th May 2016 at the Sigmund Freud Museum in Vienna.
