I am a PhD student on a project based on notion that the mother-infant bond is central for providing protection and caregiving for the child. Within this framework, I will be examining the role of maternal genetics (oxytocin receptor gene and serotonin transporter polymorphisms) in the quality of maternal interactive behaviour and its consequent impact on children’s functioning (at neuroendocrine and behavioural levels), taking into consideration the families’ psychosocial environment.

PhD Thesis title: “The role of maternal oxytocin receptor gene polymorphisms in maternal interactive behaviour and its consequent impact on children’s neuroendocrine and socio-emotional functioning” (FCT Grant SFRH/BD/96001/2013).
