Education for Wellbeing training: The Guide (Manchester)

The Guide is a mental health curriculum originally developed in Canada by psychiatrist Dr. Stanley Kutcher in collaboration with the Canadian Mental Health Association. The aim of the curriculum is to educate and raise awareness in young people about mental health and mental illness.
Teachers of school classes receiving The Guide will receive a one-day training aimed at improving knowledge of and enhancing positive attitudes towards mental health and mental illness.
The training day will also familiarise teachers with the psychoeducational content of six lesson plans:
- Stigma of mental illness
- Stress and the brain
- Understanding mental illnesses, part 1
- Understanding mental illnesses, part 2
- Support, treatment and recovery
- The importance of positive mental health
Training will be a full day, with lunch and refreshments provided.
