About this course
ITSIEY is being responsive to the Covid-19 crisis. From July 2020 all ITSIEY training will be taking place online and will continue to be delivered by experts in infant mental health. Rich teaching content, as always, will be enhanced by group discussions with the tutor, small breakout groups for participants and video presentation.
Facilitating Baby Led Play in Parent-Infant Relationships with Jenifer Wakelyn
This course has been created to offer professionals who have contact with parents and infants’ evidence-based skills for enhancing parent-infant relationships, which can be incorporated in their day-to-day work. Participants will be taught essential skills to promote baby-led play in parent-infant relationships.
This day will focus on the “Watch Me Play!” method, which promotes psychological well-being in infants by supporting the attentiveness of parents or carers and bringing shared enjoyment to the parent-infant relationship. Participants will be taught 5 key techniques for facilitating infant led play.
Aims of this course
- To support early years and perinatal practitioners to enhance parent-infant interactions.
- To give practitioners both evidenced based techniques and simple key methods, to enhance parent-infant relationships, which can be incorporated into their work.
- To practice using the taught skills which promote a positive relational connection between parents and infants.
Who is this training suitable for?
This training is suitable for professionals working in early years, paediatric, social care and perinatal teams, such as: occupational therapists, nursery nurses, health visitors, paediatric physiotherapist, speech and language therapists, hospital play specialists, paediatricians, social workers, early help workers, family support workers, perinatal mental health nurses, perinatal psychologists and psychotherapists working with infants age 0-3.
