This two-day workshop expands previous knowledge and embeds the basic skills of mentalization based treatment (MBT).
The new MBT Certificate course - practitioner level one-month course is made up of 2 days of live, instructor-led content (including breaks) and 4 hours of self-guided content - attendees will be required to do various tasks before, in-between and after the live, instructor-led sessions and these self-paced hours will not be included in the CME credits.
Please note that this training will take place online in Eastern Standard Time (EST).
The live day sessions will run on 19th and 20th March 2021. You will receive 1 month access to our newly developed self-guided online training. Access to this platform will be provided on Monday, 1st March 2021.
The aim is to facilitate skills development. Attendance at the course is part of the requirements for recognition as an MBT practitioner. Participants will:
- Have an up-date of current knowledge;
- Learn how to use the MBT adherence scale to monitor their practice;
- Develop their MBT skills through clinical demonstration, video ratings, and role plays.
Participants are encouraged to apply to bring a clinical video or audio of their work to demonstrate their use of basic MBT interventions. Consent from the client for part of a session to be shown for training purposes is required.
Alternatively participants may present a clinical problem with an MBT focus. This will be discussed and role play used to identify appropriate MBT intervention process.
A maximum of 5 presentations from participants is possible. Please apply early (by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org) if you would like to take up this opportunity.
Any video assessment and clinical presentation discussed on the course may be used towards recognition of practitioner status and competence.
For other requirements to become a recognised MBT practitioner please see the Quality Assurance and Training Manual. In order to become an MBT Practitioner, you are required to fill out the MBT Practitioner Status Form, submitting all necessary evidence as described on the form.
