About this course
Participants will meet for 12 x 90-minute group video reflective practice sessions exploring the application of PEMA with pre-coded (standardized) training video samples. Additionally, participants will employ PEMA with videotaped parent-infant interactions from their own concurrent clinical practice for group reflection. Participants will utilize in-depth reflective discussion and review of video materials to develop a case formulation based on the PEMS orientation. Reflective practice groups are limited to 4 participants to ensure optimum training conditions in support of reliability and comprehension. Trainees are required to reach 80% reliability with 10 pre-coded videos by the end of training in order to qualify for certification. Additional supervision, beyond 12-week period required to support trainee reliability is available for additional fee.
Accommodates: up to 4 participants per reflective practice group
Duration: 12 weeks x 90 minutes video conference (+ 1-2 additional site-specific pre-implementation calls)
Pre-requisites: PEMA Intensive
Audience: Suitable for licensed and pre-licensed mental health clinicians and/or providers working with parents and children 0-2yrs.

Certification:
Certification requires successful completion of both PEMA Intensive and PEMA Reflective Practice trainings. Participants are welcome to partake in PEMA Intensive training independently, as a means to adopt a PEM-specific lens in clinical work. The Reflective Practice component is required to license PEMA as an assessment tool. Please note that the licensing agreement, which accompanies certification allows individual use of PEMA and does not include training others on the instrument.
Re-certification:
Re-certification involves reliably coding standardized video sample(s)every 3 years. This is required to ensure scoring reliability, fidelity of the PEMA model and to maintain license for use.
