Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families

Having worked at the Marlborough Family Service as a Consultant Systemic Psychotherapist, teacher and trainer for over thirty years, Neil is now Co- Head of the Anna Freud Services for Schools managing and supervising the innovative School Outreach Therapy service in thirty five London schools.

Prior to joining the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, as Head of the Marlborough Family Education Outreach Service, he set up and managed a multi-disciplinary staff team of systemic therapists delivering mental health services in Westminster schools and consulting to schools in Harrow, Hillingdon, and Wandsworth. Following successful delivery of targeted mental health in London schools as part of the UK-wide TAMHS offer, he continues to offer supervision for the delivery of mental health interventions in schools in Brent, Bexley, Southwark, Wandsworth, Cambridge and Peterborough. He has been a clinical supervisor and tutor on the Institute of Family Therapy’s MSc Family Therapy Training. He has co-authored Multiple Family Therapy: The Marlborough Model. He has also written extensively about the work of the Family Education Centre and has led many training events in the UK and across Europe. The Marlborough Model of groups of families working together in Family Classes in schools has attracted lots of professional and political interest and is being adopted widely, particularly in Britain, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Germany.

Brenda and Neil are currently collaborating on producing SmartGym as an innovative combination of technology and therapy in support of resilience building for vulnerable children and young people.
