Open Evening Success

We held a successful Open Evening for prospective postgraduate students on Wednesday 11th January which was attended by 40 people.

We held an Open Evening for prospective students on Wednesday 11th January which was attended by 40 people. The evening started with mingling and tea/coffee followed by brief descriptions of each course.  Three Masters courses (DNP, DPCP and PDP) were represented.

The audience then moved in rooms specific for each course, where the Head of Course and Alumni/current students answered questions and gave fuller details of the programme.

We are hugely appreciative of current students and alumni for giving their time .  Kay Asquith was joined by  Grace West, Hayleigh Barrington-Hudson, Charlotte Cussins, Christos Ionnidis representing PDP.  Grace and Christos now work in the toddler service, Hayleigh and Charlotte are 2nd year part-timers and it was very helpful to have their input as PDP is receiving increasing numbers of applications for the part-time option.  Eamon McCrory was joined by DNP alumnus Mattia Gerin who talked about his experiences on the course.  Mattia is now undertaking a PhD at UCL.  For DPCP, Nick Midgley and Fiona John were joined by alumni Kalia Cleridou, Steph Henwood and Sarah Clark. Kalia is currently enrolled on the DClinPsych programme at UCL, Sarah is an Assistant Psychologist in CAMHS and Steph is enrolled on the IAPT Workforce training. Thank you to all of the Alumni that took part in the evening!

The evening went well and we are hoping to receive applications from some of the attendees.

This year we are increasingly using web-seminars as part of our recruitment strategy.  This allows Heads of Course to make a brief presentation followed by Q&A with a group of prospective students on line. It’s a great method for reaching overseas or EU students who can’t come in person to an Open Evening.
