The Leadership Course is a one-year programme for clinical leads & service managers committed to the delivery of high quality care for children and young people. This Postgraduate certificate programme provides specialist post-qualification training for anyone in a leadership role implementing transformation & change in Children and Young People's Mental Health (CYPMH) and Wellbeing provision across Education, Voluntary Sectors, NHS or Social Care.
The programme is applicable to all aspects of CYPMH service improvement with particular focus on implementing policy around CYPMH including:
- Future in Mind,
- the Green Paper,
- Five Year Forward View
- the Long Term Plan.
It is relevant to leaders and service managers with responsibility for delivering aspects of policy including CYP IAPT, Mental Health Support Teams, EMHP & CWP new workforce development.
This course is for CYPMH and Wellbeing leaders and mangers across health, social care, and education within in the NHS, schools, others statutory and third sectors. This focus of the course is to provide leaders and managers with an effective learning environment and toolkit by which to deliver their service change and transformations objectives.

The course will benefit anyone in a leadership role implementing change in CYPMH and Wellbeing provision including:
- Senior school staff involved in the EMHP and Mental Health Teams in schools,
- Clinical Leads in NHS CAMHS implementing CYP IAPT and/or the CWP programme
- Commissioners and Social Care leads who are driving service transformation
- Managers and Senior Clinicians in CYPMH & Wellbeing charities and third sector organisations

Successful services that apply for funding places of the CYP IAPT: Therapy (Recruit to Train Practitioner) course will be expected to take 1 training place on the PG Certificate in Leading Transformation & Change for a member of staff moving into or currently in a management role. Preference will be given to those who put forward a suitable staff member keen to develop and embed the CYP IAPT principles in service and support the new workforce.
If services already have managers trained on the PG Certificate Leading Transformation & Change (previously known as the CYP IAPT Management course) in the service, we expect these to be overseeing and supporting the new workforce.
