Research Themes

The core mission of the Anna Freud National Centre for Children & Families is to constantly improve the help given to children and families in emotional distress. In order to achieve this goal, we have a long tradition of innovative research.

Our work is highly collaborative and we work with many colleagues in the UK and abroad. Our research:

  • Uses neuroscience to investigate how the mind develops
  • Seeks to improve understanding of mental health and resilience
  • Tests which treatments work best for child and adolescent mental health problems
  • Assesses the impact of projects aiming to improve mental health services.
