Team AFNCCF run London Marathon

Yesterday, 14 wonderful people braved record breaking heat to run the London Marathon to raise funds for the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families as part of Team Heads Together.

The 14 runners (including one member of AFNCCF staff) have spent the past few months hard at work not only training but fundraising to support our work.

Together they have raised almost £50,000 with donations still coming in!

As if running a marathon and raising such a huge amount wasn’t enough, their feat was made even more impressive by extremes of weather rarely seen anywhere outside the Gobi Desert. After months of training in the freezing conditions including the dreaded Beast from the East, our runners slapped on the sunscreen and braved the hottest London Marathon on record!

Our staff, volunteers and supporters also joined with Heads together outside the Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London to cheer on our runners as they passed.

Bianca, an employee from Jo Malone London who ran the Marathon on behalf of the Centre said:“Thank you so much again for the most incredible experience. It really was amazing and I was honoured to be able to run on behalf of such an inspirational charity. Thank you so much – it really was one of the best experiences of my life.”

We want to send our congratulations to our runners on undertaking this incredible challenge and extend our sincere gratitude for doing so in support our work with children and families living with difficult mental health conditions.
