Family Trauma Series: Family stories - supporting families affected by domestic abuse
This webinar aims to offer professionals an insight into our collaborative, brief intervention for mothers and primary-school aged children living in refuges who are at risk of PTSD.
About this webinar
The Anna Freud Family Trauma team’s new live webinar series provides expert practice insights into key clinical practice areas affecting families and children and young people.
One in five children have lived with an adult perpetrating domestic abuse (NSPCC, 2019), and these experiences can have a traumatising effect on children, with up to half of those experiencing domestic abuse meeting the diagnostic criteria for PTSD. By co-producing support for children living in refuges and adapting evidence-based trauma focused CBT, the family trauma team aims to increase engagement and improve outcomes for children and families who have experienced multiple traumas (i.e. prevention of the development of PTSD and early intervention for diagnosable PTSD).
This webinar aims to offer professionals an insight into our collaborative, brief intervention for mothers and primary-school aged children living in a refuge who are at risk of PTSD.
Aims of this webinar
To investigate co-production strategies to enhance family engagement in refuges.
To synthesise evidence on trauma-focused CBT for children impacted by domestic abuse.
To develop tailored adaptations of trauma-focused CBT for families with multiple traumatic experiences.
To evaluate initial outcomes, identifying benefits and challenges, and propose future research directions.
Who is this webinar for?
