Arts therapies and borderline personality disorder (BPD)
Insufficient evidence – there either hasn’t been any research on this treatment option or there is a small amount of evidence with unclear conclusions.
There are a lot of different types of arts therapies, but they all usually use psychotherapy techniques together with creative activities, which aim to help you express yourself. Currently art therapy, dance movement therapy, body psychotherapy, drama therapy and music therapy are provided in the UK.
Arts therapies can help you to experience yourself in a different way, and to relate to others in different situations. They should help you to express yourself, and help you to accept and understand your feelings in a way that is more comfortable.
There is not much evidence that arts therapies can help with BPD.
