Art therapy and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Insufficient evidence – there either hasn’t been any research on this treatment option or there is a small amount of evidence with unclear conclusions.
Art therapy aims to help you express yourself through art and communicate things which are confusing, distressing or difficult to talk about. Arts therapies can help you to experience yourself in a different way and find new ways to relate to other people. They should help you to accept and understand your feelings in a more comfortable way. Arts therapies are usually held as group sessions, but you could be offered individual support. These sessions should be led by a trained professional.
