Embedding Student Voice and Participation in Schools

Learn how to develop a meaningful culture of participation in your school or college.

About this training

This training supports schools and colleges to develop a meaningful culture of participation, ensuring children and young people are actively involved in decisions that affect their lives. We explore why participation matters, its grounding in Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and how a rights‑based approach strengthens inclusion, belonging, wellbeing and whole‑school development.

Using the evidence‑informed Lundy Model of Participation, this session introduces practical tools for embedding pupil voice and participation at classroom, operational and strategic levels. Delegates will engage with real examples, case studies and activities that build confidence in enabling students to influence change in their setting.

The training provides a clear framework for strengthening participation practice, considering enabling factors, overcoming barriers and sustaining participation as part of a whole school approach.
