Building on the shorter mental health and school attendance course, this training offers a deeper understanding on how to address attendance barriers.
About this training
According to Government data on school attendance, children and young people with a record of severe and persistent absence from school has risen following the pandemic. Building upon the learning from the mental health and school attendance half-day foundation course, this training provides a deeper understanding of how best to support children, young people, parents and carers with removing barriers to attending school. The course will also provide practical tools and strategies that support the improvement of attendance in your setting.
Aims of this training
deepened understanding of mental health related barriers to attendance Able to recognise the positive impact of using a relational approach
increased awareness of the perspectives of children, young people and families who have personal experience of non-attendance
deepened understanding of evidence-based interventions and strategies to use as part of a whole school approach
experience of selecting appropriate resources to assess and plan support for students returning to school after a period of absence

This full-day training is available both online and in person, with a fee of £249.
