Structured Clinical Management (SCM) Refresher

About this training

Grounded in the latest Structured Clinical Management (SCM) guidance and real-world clinical challenges, this one-day training focuses on maintaining fidelity, managing risk and crisis, and using the therapeutic relationship effectively in pressured services.

The training introduces the core principles of SCM, focusing on what is most important in practice and how these elements can evolve over time. Participants will explore how to use the SCM framework in a way that provides structure without becoming overly rigid or defensive. It will also address managing risk, self-harm and crisis situations within an SCM approach, alongside maintaining clear therapeutic boundaries while continuing to build and sustain relational work with clients.

The session is designed to be interactive and reflective. Learning is supported through case-based discussion, allowing participants to explore practical applications of SCM in real clinical contexts. There will also be space to discuss real-world dilemmas drawn from participants’ own professional experiences.

This is a one-day live training session suitable for individual clinicians as well as whole teams. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance following completion of the training. Please note that this is a refresher training, not an introductory SCM training.
