Residential Special Schools and Colleges Training for Experts by Experience

This three-day training prepares Experts by Experience to co-deliver the NATP across special residential schools and colleges settings alongside NATP trainers.

About this training

Experts by Experience (EbEs) are those with relevant lived experience or a close family member of someone with relevant lived experience. This training will educate attendees on the National Autism Trainer Programme (NATP) course content which they will then co-deliver alongside a qualified NATP trainer in a residential special schools and colleges setting.

Please note that specialist or high-level skills are not required to attend the course.

Aims of this training

  • To successfully train as an EbE to co-deliver the NATP course in a residential special schools and colleges setting alongside an NATP trainer.

  • To communicate the barriers experienced by autistic people in a residential special schools and colleges environment.

  • To discuss examples of existing good practice and innovative approaches of working with diagnosed and/or undiagnosed autistic people, rather than on or for them.

  • To practise how to facilitate delivery of slides and animations in settings with a NATP qualified co-trainer.
