Supporting Students Experiencing Anxiety

This training helps school staff understand and support children and young people experiencing anxiety. You’ll learn how anxiety presents in school life, what keeps it going and how to use simple, effective strategies to promote emotional wellbeing.

About this training

For children and young people, some level of anxiety is normal as they grow up and learn to navigate the world. However, it’s important that they have the tools to manage feelings of anxiety, and can tell the difference between normal emotions and more severe anxiety which is interfering with their everyday life.

This course helps school staff to understand the different ways that anxiety can present, including the physical symptoms, as well as how to identify when feeling anxious is becoming a serious problem for a child or young person.

We will explore the underlying causes of anxiety; the impact of current mental health challenges and what school staff can do to help. You will learn what keeps anxiety going and develop tools and strategies to support children and young people when they are feeling anxious.
