About this free webinar

The Government has begun rolling out the Families First Partnership Programme to implement reforms to children’s social care. The intention is to create a more integrated approach, with two broad aims: providing earlier and more effective support to prevent escalation of their needs and enable children to stay at home safely; and intervening in a decisive way when children do need safeguarding from significant harm. The approach centres family group decision making and includes an integrated ‘front door’ for referrals and multi-disciplinary Family Help and Child Protection teams.

Local authorities are now embarking on the journey of change, with an agenda that entails new roles, team structures, and multi-agency working arrangements. Change on this scale has an impact. Leaders have to strategise, managers have to mobilise, and frontline workers have to navigate multiple endings and beginnings, all whilst being impacted directly by these changes and still working to uphold their commitment and responsibilities to the children and families they support.

Adaptive Mentalization Based Integrative Treatment (AMBIT) is an approach that champions integrated, client centred care, whilst acknowledging the very real challenges of achieving it, including the emotional impact on workers of supporting vulnerable individuals and families. This free lunchtime webinar is open to anyone interested in considering the social work reforms and the impact of organisational change, through an AMBIT frame; and how its principles and ideas might help to navigate and facilitate the process.
