Health and Justice Settings Training for Experts by Experience
The three-day course prepares potential Experts by Experience to co-deliver the NATP across health and justice settings alongside NATP-trained delegates.
About this training
Experts by Experience (EbEs) are those with relevant lived experience or a close family member of someone with relevant lived experience. This training will educate attendees on the National Autism Trainer Programme (NATP) course content which they will then co-deliver alongside a qualified NATP trainer in a health and justice setting.
Please note that specialist or high-level skills are not required to attend the course.
Aims of this training
To successfully train as an EbE to co-deliver the NATP course in a health and justice setting alongside an NATP NHS trainer;
To communicate the barriers experienced by autistic people in a health and justice environment;
To gain an understanding of the value of modelling collaborative, relational and person-centred values, and of promoting a balanced narrative about neurodiversity;
To practise how to facilitate delivery of slides and animations in settings with a NATP qualified co-trainer.
Who is this training for?
To attend the health and justice settings EbE training, attendees must fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
Be autistic OR be a sibling/parent of an autistic person who has also experienced additional co-occurring mental health conditions (anxiety, depression, eating disorders, suicidality, psychosis etc.);
Have experience as a service user of mental health services, residential special education, and/or health and justice services;
Not be a clinician/practitioner in one of these settings.
