Anna Freud Centre launches new online training portfolio

Today the Anna Freud Centre has launched a new portfolio of online training courses and webinars that will be running in Autumn and Winter of this year.

There is a wide range of courses available that vary in terms of content, audience and cost – allowing anyone to learn from experts via live tutorials or self-directed learning.

New online courses include:

  • The Anna Freud Centre’s Mentalization-Based Treatment for children, young people and families, which allows professionals working with these groups to understand mentalization.
  • The Centre’s 42nd International Scientific Colloquium will be online this year, and the Colloquium will look at what impact the current pandemic has had on play and playfulness in psychotherapy. Discussions will involve mental health professions from all over the world.
  • Those working in schools and colleges can attend this course to look at what recent evidence shows about unexpected change and loss and the impact this can have on children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing. This course will focus on current experience as a result of the pandemic.
  • Those working therapeutically with infants and parents in this course can look at how to integrate an authentic exploration of race, ethnicity, culture and religion within the family, including the new baby and therapist in parent infant psychotherapy.

Marta Wojciechowska, Training and Conferences Lead at the Anna Freud Centre, says: “Due to the Coronavirus crisis we have been looking at ways to continue to share and deliver the Centre’s internationally respected trainings and conferences. This is especially needed at this time, because there is a real need to share the Centre’s expertise regarding the mental health of children and young people.

“We’ve come a long way over the past three months, administering and running trainings online, speaking to hundreds of registrants about changes to their courses, and running webinars to thousands of people. Feedback from attendees to date has been really positive in relation to our online courses.

“We’re very excited to launch this new portfolio of online trainings, which will support a variety of people and professionals who have an impact on children’s lives to help transform children’s mental health.”
